Steeping Chinese Tea You will learn to steep several teas using a gaiwan and you will receive a gaiwan to take home. Michael will also go over the culture associated with Chinese tea as well as using Yixing clay pots to prepare tea. There are only 12 spaces available for this course, so sign up today! Tea Geek's Basics of Tea: a 6-Part Course Michael J. Coffey offers a descriptive skills- and knowledge-based course series. By taking this training, you will be exposed to all of the basic things that are must-know for people in the tea industry (or just want to know something about what they drink). It includes a little history and culture. You'll learn different brewing methods and how to identify several famous teas by sight, flavor, and taste.

The full program is comprised of six, one-hour courses:

  • Hour 1: Introduction, History, and the Tea Plant
  • Hour 2: Green Teas
  • Hour 3: Black Teas
  • Hour 4: Wulong Teas
  • Hour 5: White, Yellow, and Puer Teas
  • Hour 6: Brewing Skills

What you get with this package:

  • 6 hours of training on April 3, 2011
  • Samples of 17 different loose teas from around the world
  • Convenient filter pouches for brewing wherever there's hot water and a cup
  • Three different brewing vessels (Yixing-style teapot, Gaiwan, and ISO cupping set)
