Tea Geek Events for 2009

Better Than Fair You've probably heard of Fair Trade, but what exactly does that mean? This class will cover some of your tea options when looking for more socially-responsible or environmentally-friendly selections. You'll also get a sense of where tea is grown as we look at Fair Trade tea projects around the world. $10, includes Hawthorn Tea Room’s homemade scone (they’re better than the Fair’s!) Oolongs and Blacks Just in time for Halloween, listen to some tales from the world of tea! There are scary dragons, gruesome disfigurements, and a clever disguise that brought an empire to its knees! Plus, you'll get to sample some teas and learn about what makes oolong and black teas different (and so popular)! $10, includes light refreshments. To register, contact The Hawthorn Tea room

Tea Traditions Virtually every culture in the world has some kind of tea tradition. We'll look at some of the oldest and most famous tea traditions, from China, Japan, Britain, and the United States--as well as how the different approaches to tea developed. $10, includes light refreshments. Whites & Greens It seems every week there's another study looking at the health benefits of white or green tea. What's really going on? What ARE antioxidants anyway, and why are they good for you?
