Make Your Own Tea Blend! Why do tea businesses blend teas and what exactly is a blended tea? Learn the terminology and how teas are tested and sampled for potential blends. Look at some simple blends, and finally, make your own! Includes samples of 5 black teas for your own experimentation! 'Note: As an added benefit, after the discussion, the Perennial Tea Room will remain open to allow attendees to have time to shop. All purchases made during that evening will receive a 10% discount.' Tea Chemistry: Reactions in Leaf and Cup All of the amazing flavors, colors, and aromas in a cup of pure tea are the result of chemical reactions--in the tea plant, during the preparation of the leaf, or during the process of brewing and drinking a cup. We will look at some of the major reactions and what they mean to your tea drinking experience. This is not a beginner’s class; participants should at least know what basic processing differences lead to green, wulong, and black teas.All of the amazing flavors, colors, and aromas in a cup of pure tea are the result of chemical reactions--in the tea plant, during the preparation of the leaf, or during the process of brewing and drinking a cup. $20 materials fee, max 10 participants. Coffey of Tea Geek at the SA Tea Stage in an exploration of tea knowledge, how it’s acquired, and who sets the standards here and abroad. The presentation will also cover differences between tea certification options.
