Bai Hao Wulong is a more deeply oxidized tea traditionally made in northern Taiwan.  While some might call it a "summer tea," it technically isn't because the tea is usually only made during the fifth lunar month, not all summer.  During this time, a particular insect bites the the leaf, sucking the juices out of individual cells as it feeds.  In response, the plant produces a sweet substance to attract ants as a means of protecting itself.  This substance, and the particular cultivar used, gives Bai Hao Wulong a sweet fruitiness not found in other teas.  Of course, this means that all Bai Hao Wulong is free of pesticides, since insect "pests" are a required part of the production process.

According to the stories surrounding this tea, it was named "Oriental Beauty" by Queen Victoria.  It is an apt name, as the dry leaves often have a variety of earth tones, and the steeped leaf-and-bud sets can be very gracefully shaped and turn a beautiful chocolate brown.

Sold by the ounce, Bai Hao Wulong can be carefully re-steeped three or four times, bringing the cost of this tea in the range of $0.10 - 0.15 per cup (based on list price).
