We visited the producer of this tea in Maokong, Taiwan.  When we asked how long he roasts his teas for, he explained that each batch of tea was like a person--each had a different appetite for different things.  Apparently this one had an appetite for the roaster because it was in there quite some time.  The color of the leaf hardly lightens, even after multiple brews.

Roasted Taiwan GuanYin 2008 is, of course, made from the Tie Guan Yin varietal grown in Taiwan.  With careful gongfu preparation (starting with very short brew times), this tea can produce 3 to 4 brews or more per measure of tea, making the price per cup in the $0.32 to $0.42 range.  Sold by the ounce.
